Sue has worked with children and families in diverse clinical settings. She specialises in complex care and loves to bring her teaching to life with this clinical experience.

Clinical areas have included:

  • Acute Children’s Wards
  • High Dependency Children’s Unit
  • Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
  • Children’s Community Care – Specialising in long term ventilation at home
  • Children’s Emergency Department

Teaching Interests

Complex and Challenging Care of Children and Families, Neuro-diversity and Sensorily Safe Environments, Clinical Skills and Simulation.

Sue mainly teaches across year three of the child field Pre-registration nursing programme.

Research interests

Experiencing Sensory Overload Project – (ESOP)

A simulation based research project to enhance the quality of education on neuro-diversity and sensory overload in collaboration with K Wedgbury and the school of digital arts. 

Simulated Initial Child Protection Conference – An Interprofessional Learning Opportunity

An online simulation-based research project to enhance the quality of interprofessional learning for child field nursing and social work students within complex safeguarding. In collaboration with J Dale and A Lewis.
